Upcycled Frame - Button heart

Hey guys
I am now contributing to a blog called Creative Craft Cottage a really fun blog with challenges every month and this months challenge theme is Love.

Well...I'm a pretty simple type of thinker lol and so when I think of love I think Hearts <3 <3 so here we are.

Awhile ago I got this big box of old frames from a garage sale Yard sale )  and I've been working my way through them and this was awesome because I got to combine collage, repurposing, and hot glueing my all time fav thing to do...and look at all the pearly, blingy goodies!!!!  HEAVEN

I painted the frame with a couple of layers of acrylic paint...gave it a little spritz with some Lindys Jack Frost and sanded the edges to give it that worn shabby look...I finished it with a coat of modge podge.

I really loved this fun easy peasy project...hope you give it a try and find something to re-purpose and alter. Can't wait to see what creatIons of LOVE you guys make.  Be sure to check out these links to see more of my crafts :)

Shabby Wall Hanging - Sew Crafty

Wow guys I can't believe it my 3rd blog post in 2 days sheesh I'm going good guns :)
This is just a little gift I made for a crafty friend.

With some scrap card I cut a heart shape and modge podged some old dictionary paper to it.
I then adhered a crochet doily and cut around it.
Once that was done it was all fun from there on embellishing it with some of my Handcrafted flowers. Ribbon roses I made and lots of other goodies.

Added some seam binding that I had tea-dyed, stick pins, metal heart and butterly.  The sissors are a lil wood vaneers, a little cotton spool that I wrapped some pearl trim around and a few vintage buttons.  I polymer clay bird that my friend made...his tail broke but I fixed that up :) I also rubbed a little bit of cream arcrylic paint around the place to give it more of a shabby look.

I love making things for my crafty friends this was so easy and fun to make I hope you give something like this a try :)

Shabby Mixed Media Canvas's

Kia Ora :)
Just wanted to share with you some of the fun and easy canvas's I have been creating :)

Once I did my background it was really just fun embellishing...these didn't take long and I think they would make great gifts or just brighten a little space.  They measure 6"x 6"

FLY
This shabby one I painted the background with cream and pink and then I adhered some lace with modge podge...when it was completely dry I ran some of the cream paint with my finger over the lace to bring out the pattern and add to the shabby look.  I also gave it a quick spritz with Lindys Jack Frost so it has a beautiful light shimmer I wish my camera picked it up.

SPREAD YOUR WINGS

On the back ground of this one..after I laid down the blue and cream paint I collaged some dictionary page on and white washed the whole canvas before adding some washi tape..and then once again I just embellished with yummy goodies. The bird and cage are both inked and then heat embossed with UTEE.  to get a shabby look I run some acrylic (cream) paint over the embossed bits and then blast it with my heat gun again and it gives it a weathered look :)

FLY FREE

This last one is probably my fav...butterfly...earthy tones...simple...distressed...ticks all the boxes for me.

The background I just collaged with some music paper and washi tape and then some layers of paint and some TH Distress ink (vintage photo).  A light white wash and distressed the edges again with the vintage photo distress ink.  I had been looking at this butterfly for ages it's made from feathers and when I did this background I just knew it finally had a home.  A little metal heart that I ran some paint over with my finger to tone it down and there we go.

Loved spendnig the evening making these so easy...so quick and they come out really cute :)

Hot Fix Crystals

Hey guys well here in sunny Papamoa it's raining...perfect for hiding out in my crafty corner and having a play.
I've been designing for Retailgirl...a company owned by a beautiful and very crafty lady here in New Zealand she sells a range of crafting embellishments and she has started stocking these beautiful Hot Fix Crystals that you heat set onto different surfaces using the Hot Fix Heat tool.
These are stunning crystals...they come in a range of sizes but my absolute favourite are the Aurora Boriellis ones I just love the iridescent shimmer to them.
Here are some pics of some of the things I have been playing around with.

Above are some leather bracelets I have been playing around with....love how they add a little bit of glam to the bracelets and all these leather braclets and friendship bracelets are so in trend :)

Below I have blinged up a beautiful appliqué a friend sent me.  I used my favourite crystals (AB)  I wish you could see all the sparkles these crystals let out...the shimmer is gorgeous.

Once you get started blinging up things with these crystals it's hard to stop I'm looking around the room right now thinking what else I can adhere these yummy crystals to......computer??  cat?? better not...but definatly his collar  :)

Mixed media pendants :)

Hey Guys
My January Design Team Kit had heaps of fun stuff in it including these awesome mixed media pieces. This set was antique silver and what I did was cut some design paper to fit using these spellbinder dies.  These dies made especially to co ordinate with these bezels made life easy and gave me clean lines and a perfect fit.  I did a bit of fussy cutting and found some little treasures to put in,  after I had placed my goodies in I flooded the whole area with Glossy accents and left it to dry over night.

.
Having never done this before I definitely learnt a few things.  Gotta make sure there are no bubbles!!  These were fun to play with and I really liked the way they came out.  Not sure if I will put them on a chain or attach a lobster clasp for a charm...would look great on your keyring...handbag....spine of your journals and mini's...:)

POLICY ENVELOPE MINI ALBUM - KAISERCRAFT CONFETTI COLLECTION

Hey Crafters
I'm still working with The paper collection from Kaisercraft called Confetti.  A fun summery collection with heaps of elements to make so many different projects...so far I have shown you a tag, a note book holder and a journal so as you can see this paper collection is awesome.

For this mini I used policy envelopes and paper bags.  I covered them with the patterned paper and embellished them with elements from the paper collection

The binding system I used is Kathy Orta's - Hidden Hinge.  If you are a mini album maker she is definitely someone you want to follow her tutorials are amazing.

You  can see in the pics below how fun and bright this paper is so perfect for putting your summer pics in.

Tags, pockets, journal spaces, photo mats all embellished with elements from the Confetti paper collection.  Little bit of lace here and there some flowers and lace doilies from Prima....all this makes for a interactive keepsake for you precious memories...so easy to crop and adhere you photo's.

Above you can see there is lots of tags hidden and tucked away.  This album was so much fun to make :)

Check this vid out if you want to see the awesome craft supplies I received in my Dec DT Kit from Scottie Crafts.

Thanks so much guys for stopping by.
See you next week with another Dt project.

So here is a couple of pics of the Paper bag mini album I just completed.  I used the DCWV Magnolia way stack.  Very beautiful with butterflys and of course magnolias.
